Brody Summer Improv Camp

We are excited to introduce our new Brody Summer Improv Camp!

Our Program:

"You can discover more in an hour of play than you can in a year of conversation..." - Plato

Improvisational Theater provides an outlet for individuality as well as an inlet for creative collaboration. With more than fifteen years experience in both performance and education, The Brody Theater is proud to offer Summer Improv Camps for local area youth ages 10 to 18 for the Summer of 2012, with three separate one-week sessions in June, July, and August.

This program is designed to introduce students to the art of improvisational performance through the structured playing of games, physical activities, and creative movement exercises in a day-camp style setting. Participation in this week-long camp will develop students' ability to explore moments of truth and choices of action on stage by establishing and maintaining a focus on theatrical play.

As they explore and create improvised works of their own with the guidance of a highly trained staff of teaching artists, campers will:

    - Develop a group awareness and work with others to build an ensemble
      - Develop individual performance skills in voice and movement
        - Gain a basic understanding of theatrical terminology and concepts
          - Learn critical skills in problem solving and communication

The end of each week will culminate in a public performance Friday night for family and friends.
